Bike Lights in the Monument

The Colorado National Monument requires that all cyclists (regardless of whether they are in a organized event or riding on their own) to have a white light that is visible from a distance of at least 500 feet to the front and a red light that is visible from at least 200 feet to the rear. The Monument has 3 tunnels, bored through solid rock, that do not have lights, thus the reason for this safety requirement. All cyclists and support vehicles are required to USE the lights in the three tunnels (you may turn them off once you’ve exited).

We are selling a Cateye light set for $20, which we can mail with your packet or you may pick up at Two Rivers Convention Center on ride weekend.  Click here to view pictures of the light set and read descriptions. There are a limited number for sale – so we recommend you order now!

Already registered? You may add lights to your registration on until AUGUST 31.

Partnering bike shops in the Grand Valley – Over the Edge Sports, Ruby Canyon Cycles and Brown Cycles will have a limited number of lights available as well.
